I saw in the news, maybe a few months back, there was a page on Facebook titled Smash or Pass. Smash is a new slang word that has come up in the past year, and it means to have sexual relations with someone, where as pass, means not to. What people do on this page is post pictures of themselves one it and random strangers will comment on weather they would smash or pass.
This to me is a problem because it is things like this that can damage a persons self-esteem. If a person was passed on this page I am sure that their self confidence is lowered. Another problem that was stated on the news was that people were no longer just putting pictures of themselves, but others as well. This made me think that if I were to be going through Facebook and saw that a picture of me was posted with our my permission would anger me. If the people posted bad things about me it is possible that it could hurt how I feel about myself.
Now, my question to you is how do you feel about the Smash or Pass page, and how would you feel if you saw a picture of yourself posted on it?
I think the page is ridiculous because I have actually seen that page. Girls and guys go on there and tell weather or not they would "Smash or Pass" on a person and I have seen the people in the pictures get offended by the comments. If I was to see my picture on the page I would feel like I'm being judge just by my looks not who I who really am.

ReplyDeleteif i eneded up on this page i would be angry because one i don't want people judging me like that and two they don't know me and they are telling me if they want ot have sex with me or not. i've seen this page and i think its stupid because people of all ages do it and it's going to end up causing everybody to either sleep with each other, get their feelings hurt, or become big headed if they were rated with the smash button and they night become total jerks. i think it should be taken off of facebook even if it's not serious it could always change.
ReplyDeleteWow i really feel you! I believe that page or whatever is just pathetic. I really dislike how people judge others. My thing is...whyy dont theyy judge themselves? Not only that but people should accept themselves the way they are instead of getting opinions from people they dont even know! People now a days dont even seem human anymore! Many are just animals who try to devour one's happiness. The world has changed immensly...social website's are part of the blame. If only we could go back in time and carefully watch what we do...maybe the world wouldnt be this bad.
